Mr. Elmo "Dale" Abernathy, age 84, of Rock Creek Road, SW, Calhoun, died Thursday evening, August 11, 2016 at his residence.

He was born in Bartow County, January 14, 1932, son of the late Elihue Richard Abernathy and Naomi Howell Abernathy. Dale was a well known barber in Adairsville and Calhoun for over 30 years before retiring in 1984. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rachel Hill in 2012, and brother, Donald Howell Abernathy in 2014.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Eric Dale and Joy Abernathy of Calhoun, grandchildren, Danielle Abernathy of Adairsville, Ethan Abernathy and Emily Abernathy, both of Calhoun, brother, Jerry and Pam Abernathy of Prattville, AL; other family members Myrtle Abernathy, several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Stoner Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Earl Abernathy officiating.
