Obituary

Emily Anne Mahan Bailey, age72, born January 7, 1949, to the late Doris Gazaway Mahan in Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully November 8, 2021.Along with her mother she was preceded in death by her special aunt, Elizabeth Mahan Garrison and her mothers twin sister, Dorothy Reece and husband Max.

She is survived by her longtime partner, Dan Wooten; two sisters, Wanda Whisman and Patricia MacDonald; two brothers-in-law, Tom Dant and Bob MacDonald; niece Jessica Morgison and husband Brandon, nephews, Justin MacDonald and wife, Kristin and Alexander MacDonald and wife Andrea, as well as eight grand nieces and nephews; cousin Gwen Reece and several dear friends.

Anne was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Interior Design. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Anne worked in several businesses in Atlanta, Ga. Anne has lived everywhere from Boston to Georgia and places in between, but seemed happiest when she moved back to the family home place in Rydal, Georgia. She found the love of her life Dan, and together they spent theirs days restoring and tending to the farm. Anne created a farming business known to many as "Annie Okra", which incorporated huge amounts of knowledge of plants and land passed down from one generation to the next. Her knowledge is most likely unparalleled to most people. You could often find her produce and flowers at the Dunwoody Market, Marietta Market, and various place in Bartow County.

Besides being and avid gardener, Anne was a gourmet cook and animal lover. She could grow enough vegetables to feed the county, cook anything worth eating, and never met an animal she couldn't charm. Anne and Dan were lucky to have found each other to make this lifestyle come true.

Anne always looked out for those around her and was one of the strongest people around. She loved to laugh and had a dry sense of humor. It is with such sadness we say goodbye to a beloved partner, sister, aunt, and great aunt. Beautiful, brave, strong willed and elegant can only touch the description of this amazing woman. You will be missed. Love you always.

Honoring Anne's wishes a private graveside service will be held on the family farm.
