Mr. Emory M. Stewart, age 78, of 35 Buena Vista Circle, Cartersville, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011, at his residence.

He was born in Cartersville, GA, June 30, 1933. Mr. Stewart was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served during the Korean Conflict and later retired as Master Chief with over 32 years of service. He was of the Baptist Faith, a member of Carl Boyd American Legion Post 42, and had also worked as an owner/operator truck driver later in life. Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Billie Ann Stewart.

Survivors include his 2 sons and daughters-in-laws, Darryl (Christy) Stewart of Cartersville and Dennis Milton (Tara) Stewart of Virginia Beach, VA,; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula (Rich) Studebaker of Virginia Beach, VA; 3 stepsons and daughters-in-law, Larry Keith Black of Cartersville, Danny Ovell (Lori) McClure of Adairsville, and Michael Shane (Jackie) McClure of Adairsville; 2 stepdaughters and a son-in-law, Shelia Black (Harrison) Fowler of Rydal, and Shelly Renee McClure of Adairsville; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Buddy Bagley and Rev. Donnie Summey officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville.

Pallbearers will be Dean Vaughn, SSG Rockey Crump, Allen Head, Robbie Hudson, Zane Bridgman, and James Davis.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.

R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Emory Stewart.
