Obituary

Mrs. Ethel Kathrine Davis Watson, known to everyone as Mrs. Kay, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.

Mrs. Watson was born in Rome, Georgia, April 10, 1939, daughter of the late General Alonzo Davis and Margaret Harrell Davis. It's with great sadness and a heavy heart to share with you the passing of our mother.  Please be safe, COVID is real. Who was our mother? She was a loving wife to her first husband, Robert James Watson for 34 years who passed away in 1992 at the young age of 54. She was a wonderful mother who always gave her four children (David, Kathy, Michele, and Danny) complete unconditional love, raising four kids with all life's tools to be good moral and successful people. What child could ask for more? She was an equally loving grandmother and great grandmother. She was always quick with a beautiful smile and made others smile as quickly. She was a devoted Christian who freely gave her time, care and love to all she meet with the message of Christ. She was an entertainer, comedian and singer who performed in several churches throughout North Georgia (black, integrated and white churches).  She wrote her own comedy skits and integrated gospel songs with them.  We were so fortunate to have her for 81 years.   After Earl, her second husband, passed away in 2012, she moved from FL to live with her daughter Kathy and her husband Myron in Adairsville, GA. They provided her a loving and fun place to live. She worshiped every Sunday at NorthPointe Church, played card games with family members, was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and freely shared her love with friends and family alike. She was one funny lady too!  You felt happy when you were with her and uplifted when leaving her — indeed she was a very special person.  Mother you will be so deeply missed by everyone that ever knew you.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband and father of her children, Robert James Watson; and second husband, Robert Earl Trapp. She is survived by her children, David and Valerie Watson, Kathy and Myron Gwin, Michele and Terry Summerford, and Danny and May Watson; grandchildren, Sara (Josh) Evans, Andrea Watson, Melissa (Michael) Mitchell, Jacob Burkhalter, Michael (Karissa) Gwin, Myron Gwin, Jr., Shonn (Amanda) Gwin, R. D. (Brandy) Gwin, Kristi (Ryan) Johnson, Tony Thomas, Ryan Summerford, Heath Summerford, Jonathan (Farrah) Watson, and Joseph Watson; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; brothers, Mitchell Davis, Norman Davis, and Scott Davis; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021, at 1:00 PM NorthPointe Church, Adairsville with Reverends Jim Pinkard and Ryan Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the servicce from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at NorthPointe Church. Internment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
