IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary
Sutton
April 1, 1942 – October 2, 2024
Mr. William Gary Sutton, age 82, of Calhoun, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at home with his family.
Gary was born in Calhoun, Georgia, April 1, 1942, son of the late Clyde Wilburn Sutton and Nannie Belle Holsomback Sutton. Gary was preceded in death by his grandson, William Brandon Brown, brother, Gill Sutton, and son-in-law, Miles Biddy. Survivors include his beloved daughters, Robin Biddy, Susan Holcomb, Sheila Haley (Mike); grandchildren, Brooks Brown (Leslee), Amy Brown, Will Biddy (Natalia), Kacey Biddy, Paul Michael Haley, Tanner Haley (Sydney) and Ross Haley; great-granddaughters, Brylee Brown and Annistyn Farist; sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Don Richards; and his longtime lady friend, Ovelle P. Barton.
Gary grew up in and around Adairsville and graduated from Adairsville High School in 1960 where he was an all-state athlete in multiple sports and voted Most Athletic. He married Karen Moore shortly thereafter and together they raised their three daughters. Gary was a dedicated family man and a true girl dad, long before that was a thing. Gary was a successful salesman and business owner throughout his career. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and watching the Atlanta Braves. Whether it be on his Gold Wing or pulling his camper, he loved planning his routes and setting out to see this beautiful country. His work ethic, the importance of an education and his love for travel, are just a few of the things he passed down to the family he was so proud of, and he will truly be missed.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 4th from 1:30 PM until 3:00PM at Barton Funeral Home. A celebration of Gary's life will be held at 3:00PM in the chapel at Barton Funeral Home.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, is in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. William Gary Sutton.
