Obituary

Frances Geneva Stansell Poole, age 81, of Rome, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones and family, Thursday, December 29, 2016, following a brief illness of kidney cancer.

Geneva was born in Plainville, GA, August 29, 1935, daughter of the late Farris G. and Ruby Lee Sutton Stansell. She attended Model High School, and later married Allen H. Poole in 1958. As a lifelong resident of Floyd County, she held several different positions with various local businesses, including Diana Store on Broad, Klopman Mills, Florida Tile, Warehouse Groceries as assistant deli manager, and ARA Food Service, where she was an assistant manager. The position she most treasured, though, was her role as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Geneva was a member of Enon Baptist Church, Rome, with a deep love for her Lord and Savior, God and Jesus Christ, and strove to walk in His pathways of righteousness. She cherished cultivating flowers in her many beautiful flower beds. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Allen H. Poole, and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include her three children, David A. Poole of Rome, Susan (Tim) Howell of Cartersville, and R. Joan (Mike) Brunson of Armuchee; sisters, Jane (Edwin) Martin of Rome, and Barbara (David) Sporman of Rome; nephews, Chris Sporman of Rome, and Tim (Crystal) Martin of Rome; four grandchildren, Rebecca (David) Fabian of Calhoun, Hannah (David) Angel of Calhoun, John Gregory Brunson of Calhoun, and Leah Brunson of Armuchee; great-grandchildren, Camilla, Madison, Sophia, and Jonathan Fabian and Will Angel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Enon Baptist Church, Rome, with her grandson, J. G. Brunson, officiating. A private interment will follow in the Scott Cemetery, Plainville. Pallbearers include David Angel, David Fabian, Tim Martin, Chris Sporman, Mike Brunson, Dusty Jones, Steve Cooper, and Nevin Baker.

The family will receive friends Saturday, from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at 2:00PM, at Enon Baptist Church, Rome.

R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, is in charge of arrangements for Geneva Poole.
