Mr. George Byrd (G. B.) Hood, age 89, of Kingston, passed away Wednesday evening, May 27, 2020, at his residence.
Mr. Hood was born in Kingston, Georgia, August 27, 1930, son of the late George Byrd Hood, Sr and Annie Mae Sisson Hood. Mr. Hood was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. He loved gospel music and was the lead singer of The Crossmen Quartet for several years. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served as a military police officer, retired from L&N Railroad after 17 years of service, and member of Kingston Masonic Lodge #394. A lifelong resident of Kingston, he served on city counsel for many years and always looked to better the community. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emogene Moore Hood; son, Fred Hood; brother, Ira Hood; and sisters, Nell Watson, and Martha Stewart.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Roger Fletcher; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hood; 4 grandchildren, Josh Hood, Jennifer O'Sako, Megan Hood, and Taylor Fletcher; 7 great-grandchildren, Ryan O'Sako, Charlotte Hood, Chandler Harrison, MaKayla Harrison, Trent Harrison, Jaxon Fletcher, and Cole Fletcher; special friend and caregiver, Jeanette Perkins-Graves and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020, at 2:00 PM from Kingston Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Summey officiating.
