George H. Pearson, II

Mr. George Harold Pearson, II, age 81, of Adairsville, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at Northside Cherokee Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.

Mr. Pearson was born in Amarillo, TX, April 11, 1945, son of the late George Harold and Clara Lee Nabors Pearson. He lived a life defined by hard work, a passion for classic cars, and love and devotion to his family. A proud veteran, George had served his country with honor as a mechanic in the United States Air Force, learning and honing skills that would foster his lifelong appreciation of engineering and motors. After his military service, George built a distinguished career at Lockheed Martin, retiring as an instructor, mentoring the next generation of professionals. Later, along with his wife, he owned and operated Adairsville Cleaners, a fixture in the Adairsville Community for over 20 years. Mr. Pearson also loved sports, especially watching his children and grandchildren compete; whether it was a baseball or basketball game, swim meet, or volleyball or wrestling match, no matter how late or far away, his family could count on him to be rooting from the stands. An avid automotive enthusiast, who built and raced numerous, trophy-winning cars over the years, he was a proud and active member of the Cherokee Regional Mustang Club, most fondly remembered for his cherished, yellow, 1970 Mustang Boss 302. George leaves behind a legacy of diligence, craftsmanship, and warmth that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Cheryl Ann Pearson.

Mr. Pearson is survived by his beloved wife of over 55 years, Mary Ann Towe Pearson; a daughter, Kimberly Anne Pearson; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian Keith and Alicen Pearson; seven grandchildren, Casen , Bricen, Elijah, Addeline, Coleman, Logan and Sierra; a sister, Lynne Byrd; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Blackwell officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
