Obituary

Mrs. Gladys T. Belcher Shope, 96, of 41st Street, Adairsville passed away Wednesday (November 13, 2013) at the residence.

Mrs. Belcher Shope was born in Adairsville, Georgia, February 17, 1917, daughter of the late William Thomas Taylor and Lula Hood Taylor. She was the oldest member of Oothcalooga Baptist Church. She had worked at Brighton Mills, Calmor, Moore's Manufacturing, and then retired from Kulhmans Chenille in 1980. Mrs. Belcher Shope loved people and enjoyed spending her time with all her family and friends. If anyone ever needed to know information on the living or the deceased they knew to call her. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Everett James Belcher, November 9, 1991 and late husband, Wilburn Foy Shope, October 11, 2003; 4 brothers, Albert Franklin Taylor, Willie Ed Taylor, Leon Faye Taylor, and Horace LeRoy Taylor.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James Edwin and Marlene Belcher of Adairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Louise and Jerry Chadwick of Adairsville; 5 grandchildren, Brian and Stephanie Belcher of Rydal, Stephen and Tina Belcher of Adairsville, Celeste and Trevor Parker of Snoraville, Adam Chadwick of Adairsville, and Jennifer and James Forsythe of Cartersville; 9 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Belcher, Riley Belcher, Ethan Belcher, Grayson Belcher, Hunter Parker, Carleigh Chadwick, Daylon Bailey, Alex Newberry, and Chaz Newberry; sweet loving cat, Whiskers and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Oothcalooga Baptist Church, Adairsville with Rev. Gary Hibberts and Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastview cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers include Joe Hardy, James Forsythe, Brian Belcher, Stephen Belcher, Adam Chadwick, and Trevor Parker. Honorary pallbearers include, Louis Darby, Larry Brown, Richard Keith, Walter Davis, Bill Chapman, Bob Rodriquez, Hoyt Campbell, Hoyt Nelson, Ronnie Everett, and Carl Hollaran.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
