Mrs. Grace West Sparks, age 86, of Folsom Rd, NW, Adairsville, died Thursday, May 4, 2017.
She was born in Bartow County, November 19, 1930, daughter of the late Henry and Dixie Blalock West. She, along with her late husband, Johnny Sparks, owned and operated a poultry and cattle farm, had worked as a forelady at Calmor, and was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where she had held numerous positions. She enjoyed expressing herself creatively through crafts, painting, singing, playing the piano and was an accomplished seamstress. Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Sparks, a sister, Brenda Horsley, a granddaughter, Angela McMurray, and a son-in-law, Gary Evans.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Pam and Bernard Cochran of Adairsville and Sheila Evans of Adairsville; two brothers, Jimmy (Mary) West of Adairsville, and Johnny West of Reno, NV; two sisters, Jeri (Herb) Swanson of Kennesaw, and Millie Freeman of Atlanta; seven grandchildren, Celeste Culpepper, Laura Rutledge, Kristy Jones, James McMurray, Sonya Noble, Alicia Brown, and Jamey Evans; eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, & nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00PM at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Tatum and Rev. Larry Hibberts officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers include Will Noble, Jamey Evans, Billy Noble, Mike Brown, Ty Rutledge, James McMurray, Ken Jones, Adam Rutledge, and Jake Noble. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Sunday at the Church from 2:00PM until the funeral hour.
