Obituary

Mr. Guy Bon Culpepper, age 86, of Adairsville Road, Adairsville, passed away Tuesday (March 17, 2015) at Redmond Regional Hospital.

Mr. Culpepper was born in Rome, GA, June 28, 1928, son of the late E.L. Culpepper and Mary Edna Daniel Culpepper. He was a member of Snow Springs Baptist Church and attended Rush Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Culpepper retired from Lockheed Martin after thirty-four and half years, was a chicken farmer for thirty-five years, and also owner operator of a sawmill. As a talented craftsman and woodworker, he made all of his children grandfather clocks, roll top desks, and dining room tables along with many other pieces of furniture. People knew they were special if they ever received one of his wooden turtles. Mr. and Mrs. Culpepper always planted the most beautiful garden; some would say "the best in Floyd County". They also visited forty-eight of the fifty states together, as well as Canada and Nova Scotia. On Saturday nights you could find all the Culpepper's together for their weekly night of UNO, at which some would say he was a great winner or "a great cheater". Most everyone will remember him for his keen sense of humor, but above all Mr. Culpepper was the most wonderful father and amazing husband. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Culpepper, sisters, Evelyn Jean Norris and Betty Sue Baker.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Alice Belle Higgins Culpepper of Adairsville; 2 daughters, Faye Darby Laney and husband Jim Laney of Adairsville and Jane Culpepper Cammer of Armuchee; daughter-in-law, Sue Zanne Culpepper of Trion; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, 2015, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Ministers Clinton Carver, Larry Russell, Donald Lumpkin, and Valerie Loner officiating. Interment will follow at Snow Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers include Dean Higgins, Danny Higgins, Seth Laney, Mark Thornbrough, Greg Clark, and Lamar Camp. Honorary pallbearers will be Dimple, Jerry, and Ted Thornbrough, John D. and Inez Hooker, Virgil and Wylene Bailey, Earl and Joyce Culberson, Yvonne King, Billy and Wilma West, and Richard V. and Madge Tate.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in honor of Mr. Culpepper to Rush Chapel United Methodist Church, 1225 Rush Chapel Road, NE, Rome, Georgia 30161.
