Obituary

Mrs. Hattie Bell Smith Chatmon, age 90, formerly of 6015 Highway 140, NW, Adairsville, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011, at Gordon Healthcare, Calhoun.

Mrs. Chatmon was born in Adairsville, January 14, 1921, daughter of the late Lucius Gilbert and Mary Suzie Abernathy Smith. She was a member of Snow Springs Baptist Church and had a love for cooking. Mrs. Chatmon was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Willis Chatmon and 12 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy Jean and Thomas Gadd of Calhoun; a son and daughter-in-law, Delbert W. and Robin L. Chatmon of Adairsville; 5 grandchildren, Wade (Tammy) Lancaster, Neal (Michelle) Lancaster, Nick (Sandra) Lancaster, Jason (Tina) Chatmon, and Diedre (Andy Garlin) Chatmon; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM from Snow Springs Baptist Church, Adairsville, with Rev. Keith Reid officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will be Wade, Neal, and Nick Lancaster, Jason Chatmon, Dean Higgins, and Phillip Smith.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
