Rev. Henry J. D. Ray, age 59, of 4348 Highway 411, Rydal, passed away May 20, 2012 at Wellstone Kennestone Hospital, Marietta.

He was born in Cartersville, April 6, 1953, son of the late Henry and Annie Mae Gregory Ray. Rev. Ray was a minister of the Holiness Faith and loved to sing, play guitar and preach the Word of God. He enjoyed fishing, volunteering with Second Genesis Ministries in White, GA, and most importantly spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Phyllis Lynn Ray of Rydal; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Randell "Dubb" and Melinda Childers of Rydal and Jeffrey "Boddy" and Kelly Ray of Rydal; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa "Missy" and Shannon Stiles of White; 11 grandchildren, Matthew "Matt", Marcus "Marc", and Alexis "Lexi" Childers, David "Boots" Ray, Kelsey Harrell, Carly Seitz, Riley Hubbard, Tyler Ray, Jamison Ray, Kaitlynn Stiles, and Haley Stiles; a sister and brother-in-law, Geraline and Robert Adcock of White; a brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Becky Ray of Ringgold and a special caretaker and loving friend, Phyllis Chappell.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 4:00 PM at the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Randell Childers and Rev. Walter Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Towe Chapel Cemetery, Adairsville.

Pallbearers include David Ray, Matthew Childers, Joey Mooney, Marcus Childers, Franklin Hardman, and Shannon Stiles.

The family will receive friends at Barton Funeral Home, Tuesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M, and also on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.
