Obituary

Mr. Hugh Dennis Jenkins, 81, of Highway 293, Kingston, passed away Saturday evening, January 4, 2014 at the residence.

He was born in Bartow County, GA, December 24, 1932, son of the late Charles Raymond Jenkins and Mary "Janie" Kell Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was a member of the Connesena Baptist Church and had retired from the Bartow County Public Works Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict and a member of Kingston Masonic Lodge # 394. Mr. Jenkins enjoyed listening to gospel music, watching NASCAR, and loved being with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph Jenkins and Johnny M. Jenkins; sister, Evelyn Jenkins Maynor.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, June Jarrett Jenkins of Kingston; 4 children, Theresa and Johnny Moore of Cartersville, Don and Sissy Jenkins of Kingston, Frances Marie "Missy" Jenkins of Kingston and Deborah "Debbie" and Clayton Christopher of Kingston; 4 grandchildren, Johnny and Dana Moore, Sarah and Jason Daves, Kristi and John Culver, Jr, and Mitchell Jenkins; 2 step grandchildren, Perry Christopher and Kim Tucker; 5 great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren; sister, Bessie Jenkins of Kingston; 2 brothers, Charles "Nook" Jenkins of Kingston and Arthur and Myra Jenkins of Adairsville; several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Connesena Baptist Church, Kingston with Rev. Stacey Nicholson and Mr. Don Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Connesena Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Pallbearers include John Jenkins, Melvin Maynor, Jr, Randy Pierce, Danny Pierce, Jason Neal, Wesley Thompson, and Cody Johnson. Honorary pallbearers include Johnny Moore, Jr, Mitchell Jenkins, Jason Daves, Johnny Moore, Clayton Christopher, John Culver, Jr, and Mickey Swims.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Connesena Baptist Church.
