Mrs. Hurlene Culberson Chesser, age 92, of Adairsville, passed away February 28 2019.

She was born in Calhoun, Georgia, November 25, 1926, daughter of the late Charles Burl Culberson and Addie Green Culberson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Hubert Stanley Chesser; brothers, Edwards and J.W. Culberson; sisters, Elizabeth Culberson, Otha Mae Herod, Ivanell Edwards, and Ovelle Culberson.

Survivors include her children, Hubert Stanley Chesser, Jr and Nancy Chesser Beverly and her husband Jim; grandchildren, Brad Beverly, Dana Chesser Bryant and her husband Chaney, and Paula Chesser; great-grandchildren, Gavin Beverly, Hayden Bryant and Reed Bryant; brother, Earl Culberson and his wife Joyce; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Chesser was a long-term member of the Adairsville Baptist Church where she served in the capacities from Vacation Bible School teacher to devoted Fidelis Class member. Mrs. Chesser loved her family, celebrating birthdays as special occasions and family gatherings as important family ties. She loved her community, and Adairsville was truly home for her. She was known to question those whom she could not identify by "Now, who are you?"

She served her community as librarian at the Adairsville City Library and considered the summer reading program as extremely special; delighting in watching the young patrons find enjoyment in and a love for reading.  One of her favorite activities, active participation in the Sans Souci Women's Club of Adairsville, earned her a coveted lifetime membership award.At one of the last Locomotive Festivals Mrs. Chesser was able to attend, a charming young lady reporter from the Cartersville's Daily News Tribune was quizzingattendants after the parade. Her question to Mrs. Chesser, "Have you lived in Bartow County all of your life?" was answered by a pert, "Not Yet!" Now her answer wouldbe a contented, "Most Definitely!"

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at 2:00 PM at the Adairsville Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Sorrell officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service. Pallbearers will be Calvain Culberson,Charles Culberson, Leonard Culberson, Larry Howell, Rusty Culberson, John Culberson, Chaney Bryant, and Ricky Boswell. Honorary pallbearers include Charlie Culbersonand Hugh Herod.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home
