Rev. Jack Willis, 82, of Highway 140 NW, Adairsville passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014.
Mr. Willis was born in Pine Log, Georgia, October 19, 1932, son of the late Lester David and Beaulah Lacey Willis. He was a member of Pleasant Olive Baptist Church, Rydal. Jack was an ordained minister and former pastor of Olive Vine Baptist Church. He worked for Shaw industries for over twenty years before retiring. Jack, along with his wife Lorene, toured the continental United States on their motorcycle. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed woodworking. Above all he cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Johnny Willis and Alton Lacey "Spud" Willis.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Lorene Dinning Willis of Adairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Al and Lonnita Willis of Adairsville; grandchildren, Amber and Brian Bunce of Adairsville, Kam and Dayna Willis of Adairsville; great-grandchildren, Corbin and Drake Bunce and Jackson and Judson Willis; sisters, Dora Lou and Jerry Summey of Rydal, Jane and Harris Scoggins of Rydal; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Willis of Rydal and Margrace Willis of Cartersville; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 28, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. James Rich officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers include Kam Willis, Brian Bunce, Mike Scoggins, Myron Scoggins, Jeff Summey, and Michael Mitchell.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
