Mr. James Edwin "Ed" Belcher, 75, of Sparks Street, Adairsville passed away Monday morning, December 11, 2017 at home.
Mr. Belcher was born in Cartersville, Georgia, September 24, 1942, son of the late Everett James Belcher and Gladys Taylor Belcher Shope. He was a member of Oothcalooga Baptist Church and the choir director for twenty-one years. A man of musical talent, he sang in several gospel quartets. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Lockheed Martin after forty-four years of service. Ed was a former member of the Creepers Car Club and enjoyed going to Street Rod Runs and watching NASCAR. He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Belcher of Adairsville; children, Brian and Stephanie Belcher of Rydal, Stephen and Tina Belcher of Adairsville, Jennifer and James Forsythe of Adairsville; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Belcher, Riley Belcher, Chaz Newberry, Alex Newberry, Ethan Belcher, Grayson Belcher, Daylon Bailey, and Emma Forsythe; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Jerry Chadwick of Adairsville, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at 3:00 PM at Oothcalooga Baptist Church, Adairsville, with Reverends Gary Hibberts and Michael Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers include Danny Taylor, Dan Taylor, Will Taylor, Mark Wallace, Kent Womack, and Steve Moraitakis.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
