Mr. James Tunney Hopper, 70, of Cartersville, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
James was born September 16, 1954, in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Henrietta Earle; grandparents, James and Clara Earle; and grandson, Jordan D. Towns. James was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. He was a railroad engineer for CSX and retired after 40 years of service. James was known for collecting train locks, having a caboose in his yard, and a true passion for trains. He loved his family and always went above and beyond for the ones he loved. They will cherish his memory in their hearts forever.
Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Teresa Towns Hopper; children, Alisa Hopper, Jennifer Hopper, Beth Hopper Sink (Randy), Tina Towns Hopper Slama (Porter), Vickie Hopper Rogers (Mike), Jesse Hopper (Caron), and Brandon Hopper; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tony Hopper (Rhonda) and Ronald Henley (Kathy); several nieces, nephews, and his furever friend, Gideon.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Reverends Ted Towns and David Summey officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers will be Jesse Hopper, Brandon Hopper, Randy Sink, Porter Slama, Daylon Slama, Triston Slama, and Ethan Smith.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
