Obituary

James Dewayne Burnett, age 61, of Adairsville passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026, at Atlanta Piedmont Hospital. James was born in Tampa, FL, July 19, 1965, to the late Jacqueline Alvey Burnett and James Washington Burnett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 wonderful years, Becky Burnett; his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Chris Cline; grandsons, Bryce Cline and Dawson Cline; brothers, Michael and Christy Burnett and David Burnett; sisters, Sabrina and Bruce Blalock and Elizabeth Bowan; mother-in-law, Bobbie Dickerson; special friend, Ronnie Raines and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was a devoted family man who loved his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons immensely. His family was the center of his world, and he treasured every moment spent with them. He was of the Christian faith and had worked in the trucking industry, as well as for the City of Adairsville Road Department.

A talented musician, Jim enjoyed playing the piano, bass guitar, and guitar, and sharing his love of music through song. He was a member of the Outback Band for several years and took great pride in his music. He was also a member of the Calhoun American Legion. A diehard University of Georgia fan, Jim enjoyed cheering on his beloved Bulldogs and spending time hunting. Above all else, his greatest joy was being with his family, whom he loved dearly.

A celebration of James’s life will be Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 6:00PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Byars officiating.

The family will receive Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
