Mr. James Warren Norton, age 73, of 15 Running Deer Trail, Cartersville, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at the residence.
He was born in Rome, Georgia, October 21, 1942, son of the late James W. Norton and Dena Mae Norton. Mr. Norton was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, an ordained deacon, and a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from DeKalb County Public Safety as EMS Captain after 25 years of service. After retiring you could usually find him spending time with the grandchildren or watching television. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rhonda Norton Chambers; brother, Gene Prater; sister, Sarah Prater Curry.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-two years, Margie Norton of Cartersville; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Michele Norton of Cartersville; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Norton and Bailey Norton; several brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Reverends Tim McCulley, Gary Bowman, and Larry Barnette officiating. Music will be provided by the Stepp Family. Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers include Blake Stepp, Tracy Edwards, Chuck Fillmore, Chris Leatherwood, and Marshall Branscum. Honorary pallbearers include Bob Montgomery, Chuck Prater, Ronnie Prater, George Curry, and Randy Curry.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
