Mr. James Alton Reed, age 93, of Adairsville, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 20, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

James was born in Cartersville, Georgia on July 17, 1933, son of the late Dollie Frances Fields Reed and William Howard Reed. He was also greeted in heaven by his two brothers, Jake “Speedy” Reed and Marvin Reed and great-grandson, Nathaniel Ledford.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Wilma Quarles Reed; beloved children, Delores Brannon and husband Lee, Tim Reed and his wife LaJuana, Bobby Reed, and Wayne Reed and his wife Karen; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

James was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Eagles Way Life Center. He and his beloved wife shared a deep and unwavering faith that guided their lives and served as an inspiration to those around them. A proud veteran of the United States Army, James honorably served his country during the Korean War.

Following his military service, James dedicated the remainder of his working years to the textile industry, retiring from Mohawk Industries in August 2005 after many years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed visiting flea markets, always hoping to discover a hidden treasure. He especially loved collecting and selling pocketknives and old watches, a hobby that brought him great enjoyment.

Above all else, James cherished his family. He was a cherished husband, father, Pawpaw, great-Pawpaw, and was blessed to become a great-great-Pawpaw. The love he shared with his family and the legacy of his faith will be treasured and remembered by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held Friday, July 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Pastor Vince Gulledge and Rev. Patrick Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers will be Josh T. Reed, Jason Brannon, Justin Brannon, Rob Reed, Leigh Reed, Josh Reed, Tyler Reed, and Dylan Reed.

The family will receive friends, Friday, July 24, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at the Barton Funeral Home.
