Mrs. Myra Jean Sharpe Satterfield, 88, of Adairsville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Jean was born in Adairsville, Georgia, June 24, 1936, daughter of the late Albert and Mattie Belle Pearson Sharpe. She was also greeted in Heaven by her husband, Bobby Joe Satterfield and son, James Ivan Satterfield.

Jean was the perfect example of a faithful Christian. She was the oldest member of Caananland Church and spent many years as the pianist. She was a member of the Pilgrims Quartet. She loved attending tent revivals, church signings, reading her Bible and daily devotions. A lifelong resident of Adairsville, she always enjoyed helping and giving back to her community especially for the Great Locomotive Chase Festival. She retired from the City of Adairsville after 26 years as the City Administrator. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. They have peace knowing she went on to her eternal home in Heaven and will cherish her memory forever.

She is survived by her beloved children, Myra Jenkins and husband, Arthur, Dowis Satterfield and wife Penny, and Shae Satterfield and wife Brooke; grandchildren, Brandey Jenkins, John Jenkins and wife Amanda, Dixie Gail Satterfield, D. J. Satterfield, Christopher Satterfield, Jr., Avery Satterfield, and Ivan Satterfield; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Emsley Jenkins and Jiraiya Tyler; brothers, James Albert Sharpe, Jr. And William Michael Sharpe and wife Yanira; special cousin, Renee Picot Gilman and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Canaanland Church, 424 Towe Chapel Road, Adairsville with Pastors Shae Satterfield and Reggie Nation officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 until the hour of the funeral.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.

Pallbearers will be Eric Pelfrey, Shane West, John Ross, Pete Casey, Tim Redd, and Don Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Ledford, Murl Cordle, Greg Sharpe, Christian Sharpe and Larry Pratt.
