Mr. Jerry Frank Atkins, 68, of Adairsville, GA passed away Monday, August 10, 2020, at his residence.
He was born in Rome, GA, August 25, 1951, son of the late Harvey Atkins and Gertha Ross Atkins. Mr. Atkins has been a member of Meadowdale Baptist Church since 1974. He retired from VT Industries in 2011. Jerry enjoyed wood working and working on cars, trucks, and small engines. He often like to refer to himself as the "Shade Tree Mechanic". He loved being with his family outdoors, going to the mountains, camping, gardening, trout fishing and hunting. Having a keen sense of humor, he loved to pull a good prank. He will always be remembered as the best husband, father, papa, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Britt Atkins; brothers, Cecil Atkins, Charles Atkins, Reford Atkins; and sisters, Shirley Self and Yvonne Roberson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Myra Garlin Atkins; son, Jerremy and Rhonda Atkins; daughter, Emily Atkins; granddaughter, Paisley Atkins; sister, Helen Hunter; mother-in-law, Margaret Garlin and several nieces and nephews.
Following Covid-19 guidelines with social distancing, funeral service will be held Friday, August 14, 2020, at 4:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Dr. Steven F. Pearson and Dr. Garry Tate officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home. For anyone attending the services mask are highly recommended.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Atkins, Seth "Bubba" Atkins, Robert Scott, Gene Self, Dean Self, Bobby Self, Charlie Garlin, Phillip Smith, David Knight, and David Ross.
