Mr. Joe Glenn Barton, age 90, of Adairsville, passed away at his residence, February 27, 2016.
He was born in Bartow County, GA, January 18, 1926, son of the late Jess and Mattie Pruitt Barton. He was a member of Oothcalooga Baptist Church. Joe was employed at G.E. in Rome for over 40 years and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He loved deer hunting, raising cattle, and horseback riding. Mr. Barton is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and Troy Barton; and step-son, Larry Ray.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Colleen Self Barton of Adairsville; daughter, Rhonda Rayburn of Rome; grandchildren, Amanda Highfield, Chance (Heather) Highfield, and Cassidy Rayburn all of Rome, great-grandchildren, Olive and Harrison Highfield of Rome; sister, Shirley Cobb of Adairsville; step-daughter, Cheryl (Sherry) Ray; step-daughter-in-law, Shelby Ray; step-grandchildren, James Ray and Carrie Ray all of Dallas; nephews, niece, and cousins; and his caregivers, Melinda Dickert and Opal Towe also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Hibberts and Rev. Michael Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers include Noah Dutton, Monte Moraitakis, Mason Moraitakis, Will Gowens, Dustin Wallace, Ethan Belcher, and Steve Moraitakis.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour at Barton Funeral Home.
