Joe Doyle Lanham, Sr.
Doyle Lanham, age 81, passed away Monday morning, April 25, 2016, at Floyd Medical Center.
A native of Adairsville, Georgia he was born on August 24, 1934, son of the late Charlie Joe Lanham and Gertrude Herod Lanham. He graduated from Adairsville High in 1952. Upon graduating he married Doris Phillips in 1956 and served in the US Army for 2 years and then moved to Cedartown in 1959. Mr. Lanham was a retired timber buyer for Georgia Kraft / Temple-Inland, Forestry Division where he served in several different capacities with the company over a period of 47 years. He served as President of the Cedartown Little League and President of the Cedartown Bulldog Club. He was member of Fisher's Chapel United Methodist Church, Summerville, GA.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Doris Lanham, son, Joe Doyle Lanham, Jr, daughter- in-law, Annette Ward Lanham, and grandchildren, Joe Doyle "Tripp" Lanham III, Garyson Ward Lanham, and Chloe Grace Shaw. Other Surviving family members are his sister, Carolyn Lanham Adams, brother-in-law, Derrill Adams, his sister-in-law, Ovelle Phillips Barton, and his nieces, Debbie Adams Herod, Margaret Velle Barton-Casey, Angela Lanham Cox and nephew, Dud Barton. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Betty Lanham, his brother, Charles Lloyd "Chuck" Lanham, sister-in-law, June Lanham, and brother-in-law, Robert Dudley Barton.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Barton Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Reverends Art Graves and Danny Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers include Rod Herod, Matt Herod, Brad Shellhorse, Steve Rush, Dud Barton, and Fite Casey. Honorary Pallbearers include the Adairsville Class of 1952 and Temple Inland-Forestry Division.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, GA.
