Mr. Joel Eugene Hyde, loving Husband, Daddy, and Pop, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Joel was born in Bartow County, GA, November 4, 1944, son of the late Jack Carthan Hyde, Jr. and Esther Mae Payne Hyde. Joel was also preceded in death by his sister, Jackie Hyde Strickland.

Joel was a faithful member of Stoner Chapel Baptist Church. He served in the Georgia National Guard, retired from General Motors after 31 years of service, and worked for the Bartow County Government after retirement. During his younger years he enjoyed showing horses and barrel racing. He also enjoyed fishing and coon and bird hunting. As he got older Joel always looked forward to planting his garden.  He had a dry wit and the best sense of humor. Above all Joel loved his family, especially his girls and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed but will live on in their hearts forever!

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Linda Parker Hyde; beloved daughters, Jamie and Aaron Williams and Julie and Chris Edwards; grandchildren, Ashton Williams Johnson (Thomas), Ansley Williams Hamby (Landon), Bo Edwards (Katie), Baylee Edwards Stanley(Abram), and Brenlee Edwards Still (Trace); great-grandchildren, Addy Johnson, Evie Johnson, Quinley Hamby, Gentry Hamby, Jessie Edwards, Peyton Edwards, and Lukas Edwards, Loralei Jane Stanley, Anniston Stanley, and Eden Still; brother, Jimmy C. Hyde (Pam); sisters, June Hight and Judy Otting (Michael); and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 3:00 PM from Stoner Chapel Baptist Church, Adairsville, with Mr. Bo Edwards and Reverends Abram Stanley, Thomas Johnson, Landon Hamby, and Stephen Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday.

Pallbearers will include Bo Edwards, Trace Still, Chris Edwards, Aaron Williams, Chaz Hight, Jake Beck, Lane Griffith, and Matt Beck.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Stoner Chapel Baptist Church, Adairsville.

R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Joel Eugene Hyde.
