Mr. John Henry Allmon, age 88, of Clements Road, Rome, GA, passed away Sunday morning, December 30, 2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Floyd County, GA, June 25, 1924, son of the late John R. Allmon and Frances Thompson Allmon. Mr. Allmon was a member of Rush Chapel United Methodist Church and had been employed with Fox Manufacturing Company, Rome, GA. His interests included tending his garden and fishing, and he especially cherished spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Edith Allmon and Rosa Mae Allmon Lanham; a brother, Luther Allmon; stepmother, Bernice Fowler Allmon; half-sister, Shirley Allmon Chatmon, Annie and Jamie Allmon; half-brother, Raymond and Laymon Allmon and a granddaughter, Shannon Deon Godfrey.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Frances Brookshire Allmon of Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and JoAnn of Rome; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Mack Godfrey of Rome and Susan and Maurice Baxter of Rome; 4 grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Godfrey, Kevin (Mandy) Dobson, Jennifer (Joe) Salmon and Paul (Lainie) Allmon; great-grandchildren, Ashlan, Collan, and Sydney Godfrey, Shelby Dobson, Carson and Blue Allmon, and Brook and Sierra Salmon.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Larry Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Rush Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rome. Maurice Baxter, Mack Godfrey, Jason Godfrey, Kevin Dobson, George Fowler, David Blackburn will serve as pallbearers while Jesse Williams and Thomas Willerson will be honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
