Mr. John Wesley Baker, age 84, of Kingston, GA passed away Thursday evening, October 3, 2019, at Floyd Medical Center, Rome.

Mr. Baker was born in Bartow County, July 7, 1935, son of the late John Akin Baker and Amanda Cochran Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Elizabeth Hale Baker in 2014; son, Johnny Baker in 1998; and sisters, Barbara (Bill) Blankenship and Jamie (Sam) Simmons. He was of the baptist faith and attended Amazing Grace Baptist Church. He worked as a machinist at EZ Mills for 38 years before retiring. An avid musician, he enjoyed singing and playing bluegrass music with several different group. In his younger years he raced dirt tracks and later became a member of the Georgia Automobile Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Marty and DeAndra Baker of Cartersville; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah (Sissy) and Don Jenkins of Kingston; daughter-in-law, Misty Jackson Baker of Adairsville; grandchildren, Kristi (John) Culver, Holly (Alex) Coker, Mitchell Jenkins, Aliza Baker, and Bryce Baker; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Owen, and Weston Culver, Pepper Culver, Cade Baker, and Hudson Coker.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 7, 2019, at 11:00 am from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Reverends David Baker and Tim Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Kingston Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Simmons, Jason Alexander, Jeff Williams, James Curtis, Alex Coker, and Michael Herod. Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Watters, Wayne Jacobs, and Randy Bennett.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
