Mr. John William (J. W., Jay) McStotts, son of the late Arvil McStotts and Margeriete McDonald McStotts, was born April 26, 1948, in Adairsville, GA across from Barnsley Gardens. He passed away peacefully at his home on June 2, 2022, surrounded by his siblings, children, grandchildren, and the mother of his children.

He was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged and presented with 2 Bronze Stars, Silver Star, and Air Medal. He was a genius mechanic and could rig anything to keep it working after it was broken. He worked his entire life to provide for his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a loving father and his time with his family was most important to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son of 16 days, Johnny Wayne McStotts, wife, Verna North McStotts, brother, Rickey James McStotts and brother-in-law, Johnnie Sheriff.

His loving legacy will live on in his children, Johnny Earl McStotts, William Cainey McStotts (Heidi), Lisa Marie Barton (Mike); six grandchildren, Stetson John McStotts, Austin Hunter McStotts, Julianna Reuben McStotts, Breanna Caidey McStotts, Aslyn Marie Barton, Emma Rose Barton; great-granddaughter, Rory McStotts; brothers and sisters, Charles Arvil McStotts (Gail), Annie Mae Sheriff (Larry), and Roney Lee McStotts (Joyce), Sandra Faye Sheriff, Mitch McStotts; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 2:00PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Adairsville with military honors. Family will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Barton Funeral Home, Sunday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
