Obituary

Mr. John Gray Trimble, Jr, age 85, of Adairsville, passed away April 15, 2020.

Mr. Trimble was born in Gardner Springs, Georgia, November 24, 1934, son of the late John Gray Trimble, Sr and Sara Ann "Josie" Morrow Trimble Martin. John was a graduate of Calhoun High School, attended Georgia Institute of Technology and the United States Military Academy/West Point . He started his career with a short stint with the FBI, he then worked with IBM for over 30 years until his retirement. His work with IBM took him around the country from Atlanta to Portsmouth, Virginia, Washington, D.C., to Tampa, Florida, and back to Atlanta, Georgia, but "home" was always at Trimble Hollow in Adairsville, Georgia. He loved watching sports, was an avid golfer, voracious reader and die hard Georgia Tech fan. Always outspoken, he was known in most circles for his keen wit and humor, just as likely to draw a laugh on the church pew as he would on the golf course. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and mother of his children, Sidney Barton Trimble on October 16, 1999; son, John "Gray" Trimble, III on July 31, 2015, and great grandson, Beckett Josef TePaske on May 12, 2015.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Trimble of Adairsville, daughters, Beth and Greg Johnson of Smyrna, Georgia, Amy Dunn of Atlanta, Georgia, Mari and Jon Fortin of Midlothian, Virginia, daughter-in-law, Kathleen Trimble of Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
Grandchildren, Michael and Julie Johnson, Erin and Matthew Shepherd, Brian Johnson, Maggie Trimble, Kirby Dunn, Sidney Fortin, and Reagan Fortin. Great Grandchildren, Morgan Shepherd and Harper Shepherd.

Graveside services will be held June 13, 2020, at 11:00AM from Poplar Springs Cemetery, Adairsville.

R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. John Gray Trimble, Jr.
