Obituary

Mr. Johnny Ward, age 67, of Folsom Glade Road, Adairsville passed away Wednesday evening (August 26, 2015) at the residence.

Mr. Ward was born in Calhoun, Georgia, April 2, 1948, son of the late Harry Murphy Ward and Edna Gore Ward. He was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church and served in the United States Air Force Reserve. A hard worker, he owned and operated a service station for many years, farmed, and later a school bus driver for Bartow County School System. He had a passion for buying and restoring antique cars. Always quick to lend a helping hand, family and the community could always count on Mr. Ward in a time of need.

He is survived by his son, Brandon Joshua Ward of Calhoun; granddaughters, Isabelle Ward and Amelia Ward; brothers, Mack Ward, Autry Ward, Mickey Ward, and Larry Ward all of Adairsville; sisters, Jane and Johnny Daniels of Adairsville and Sue and Jimmy Daniel of Calhoun; companion, Carol Afford of Adairsville and her children, Jamie and Scott Williams, Emily and Dick Murphy, Tiffany Jackson, and several grandchildren; cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 2:00 PM from NorthPointe Church, Adairsville, with Rev. Greg Free, Mr. Clinton Hight, Mr. J.B. Ezell, and Mr. Fred Painter officiating. Interment will follow in the Glade Cemetery, Adairsville. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00PM. Pallbearers will be Jerry Moore, Charles Dunson, Billy Worthington, Little Alfred Harris, Jerry Hoover, Eddie Black, Roy Towns, George Pearson, and Jerry Boswell. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Daniels, Jimmy Daniel, Jimmy Woods, Big Alfred Harris, Fred Painter, Scott Williams, Dick Murphy, Tommy Garlin, Terry Edwards, Jim Boswell, J.B Ezell, Clinton Hight, Jody Elrod, Luke Leatherwood, Bobby Cox, and Clifford Free.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
