Mrs. Joyce Lorine Coker Abernathy, age 79, of Adairsville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, April 20, 2022. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Abernathy was born in Adairsville, GA, June 5, 1942, daughter of the late Rev. Fred E. Coker and Ruth Thomas Coker. Joyce was a devout Christian and lifelong member and pianist of Stoner Chapel Baptist Church. She was kind, thoughtful, and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a bookkeeper for Shaw Industries and Acoustical Drywall. Joyce enjoyed teaching others to play the piano, flowers, and was a phenomenal cook. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Dillard Abernathy of Adairsville; sons, Steve and Angela Abernathy, Craig Abernathy, Michael and Melissa Abernathy, and special niece, Theresa and Dennis Black; grandchildren, Katie and Taylor Forsyth, Daniel Abernathy, Morgan and Casey Waits, Matthew Abernathy, and grand niece and nephew, Avery Black, and Caleb Black; great-grandchildren, Camden Forsyth, Sawyer Forsyth, and Havyn Waits; brothers, Charles Coker, and Wayne Coker; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 2:00PM from Stoner Chapel Baptist Church with Reverends Stephen Moore, Randy Jackson, Earl Abernathy, and Casey Waits officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will include Daniel Abernathy, Matthew Abernathy, Caleb Black, Casey Waits, Taylor Forsyth, Andy Coker, Jeff Coker, and Adam Coker.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00PM until 9:00PM at Stoner Chapel Baptist Church, 26 Stoners Chapel Road, NW Adairsville, GA 30103.
