Mrs. Julia Joy McGhin Baxter, age 82, formerly of 4451 Adairsville Road, NE, Adairsville, died Sunday (February 13, 2011) at her residence, Winthrop Manor, Rome.

Mrs. Baxter was born in Jasper, FL, October 31, 1928, daughter of the late William and Nannie Abernathy McGhin. She was a member of Barnsley United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Charles Baxter in 2008; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Wayne and Donna Baxter of Adairsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Julia Annette and Jack Oser of Rome; 4 grandchildren, Wayne and Tiffany Gregori, Bill and Cimberly Gregori, Jennifer and Jay Smith, and Josh Baxter; 4 great-grandchildren, Bailey Baxter, Jodi Baxter. Savannah Gregori, and Thomas Gregori; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Barnsley United Methodist Church, Kingston, with Rev. Roger Canuel officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie-in-state at the church on Tuesday, from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Gregori, Bill Gregori, Josh Baxter, Jack Oser, Jay Smith, and Herman Freeman.

The family received friends Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
