Mrs. Lois Cochran Gossett, age 86, of 109 Heritage Drive, Adairsville, passed away Wednesday morning, January 4, 2012 at her residence.
She was born in Adairsville, GA, December 10, 1925, daughter of the late Alfred "Bud" Cochran, Sr. and Roxie Brady Cochran. Mrs. Gossett was a member of Stoner Chapel Baptist Church and had retired from Nantucket Industries in Cartersville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Gossett; 4 brothers, Howard Cochran, Sr., Jake Cochran, Alfred Cochran, Jr. and Tab Cochran; 6 sisters, Ruby Reece, Rosie Hite, Lucille Robinson, Dixie Coker, Helen Lanham, and Vera Reid.
Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-laws, Terry and Brenda Gossett of Cartersville, and Danny and Brenda Gossett of Cartersville; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Earl Abernathy of Adairsville, and Pat and J. R. Parker of Adairsville; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Bessie Parker of Adairsville, and Beulah Brown of Cartersville; a sister-in-law, Bertice White of Cartersville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM from Stoner Chapel
Baptist Church, Adairsville, with Rev. Earl Abernathy and Rev. Jason Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Stoner Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mrs. Lois Cochran Gossett.
