Mrs. Lula Elizabeth Long, age 88, of 151 Powell Road, Adairsville, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at the residence.

Mrs. Long was born in Cherokee County, Alabama, July 1, 1926, daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison Crane and Ella Brooks Crane. She worked briefly at Goodyear Mills before marrying and becoming a mother and homemaker. She spent her life raising and tending to her family. Mrs. Long endured many hardships in her life but also many joys. Besides being with family she also enjoyed sewing, doing puzzles, gardening, and scratching lottery tickets. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Long; sons, Kenneth Long and Benny Long; daughters, Jane Long, Mattie Pratt, Mildred Rowe, and Geneva Owensby; brothers, John and Luther Crane, Ellis Powell, Willie and Harvey Payne; sisters, Bessie Owensby and Nellie Sanders.

Survivors include her daughters, Retha Smith of Summerville, Joyce (John) Anderson of Adairsville, Ella Long of Adairsville, and Judy Henderson of Adairsville; sons, Danny Long of Adairsville, Leonard (Sylvia) Long of Villa Rica, and Ronny (Judy Decker) Long of Cartersville; 23 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 23, 2015, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in Towe Chapel Cemetery, Adairsville. Danny Long, Joshua Long, John Anderson, Randall Pratt, Jordan Manley, and Tyler Adams will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
