Obituary

Mrs. Carol Marie Hufstetler Everett, 63, Pleasant Valley Community, Adairsville, GA went home to be with the Lord, Sunday May 24, 2026, after a 30-month fight with lung cancer. Marie was born in Floyd County, GA, April 12, 1963.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 45 years, Dwayne Everett; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Amanda Everett; parents, Margie and Eugene Hufstetler; brother, Jerry and Phyllis Hufstetler; sister, Janice Ingram; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Pam Everett; nephews, Josh Everett and Neal Hufstetler; great-nephews, cousins and dear friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Adam Blake Everett in 2016; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dewitt and Juanita Everett.

Marie was first and foremost a child of God, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished daughter. A devoted member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church of Adairsville, she faithfully served the Lord and treasured her church family deeply.

Over the years, Marie worked in several places throughout the community she loved, including the Bank of Adairsville, Burger King, Master Mat, and Calmor. She was also among the very first employees hired when Wendy’s opened in Adairsville. She proudly retired from Wendy’s in 2018 after 19 years of dedicated service.

Marie found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life — reading Scripture, playing games on her iPhone, checking Facebook, and watching The Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She loved traveling, especially road trips with her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Phyllis Hufstetler and son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Amanda Everett. She also treasured her cruise companions Bryan and Leigh‑Ann Cox. Though she took only one cruise — a memorable trip to Canada and New England in the fall of 2025 — she spoke of it often and fondly.

Marie had a gift for laughter and connection. She loved to “cut up” with people, brighten a room, and share a smile. She lived life with a full heart, a joyful spirit, and a warmth that touched everyone around her. Her presence was a blessing, and her memory will remain a light to all who knew her.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM from Pleasant Valley Baptist Church of Adairsville, with Rev. Kenny Rogers, Rev. Bryan Cox, and Rev. Brent Tatum officiating. Musical selections will be congregational singing. Graveside service will follow in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Alton Williams officiating. Pallbearers include Mike Brown, Donny Lowery, Alan McDougle, Donnie Reece, Sidney Forsyth, Randall Forsyth, Bobby Serritt, Robert Guyton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leigh-Ann Cox, Margaret Lowery, Sherry Serritt, Melissa King, Melissa Forsyth, Debbie Reece, Chris Forsyth, Alicia Brown, Heather McDougle, and Melanie Williams.

R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, is in charge of funeral arrangements for Mrs. Marie Hufstetler Everett.
