Mr. Mark Anthony "Tony" Tankersley, age 81, of Adairsville passed away July 7, 2022, at his residence.

Mr. Tankersley was born in Calhoun, Georgia, March 11, 1941, to the late Lemuel Hyatt Tankersley and Mary Louise Teat Tankersley. He was also preceded in death by his son, Rodney Eric Tankersley; grandson, Thomas Parker Tankersley; and brother, James Stanley Tankersley. After graduating Adairsville High School Tony attended North Georgia Military College studying physics. He later joined the United States Army and served 6 years. He enjoyed parachute jumping and being on the farm training and breeding A ppaloosa horses.

Survivors include his life partner, Lynn Parker; granddaughter, Kristin Cierra Tankersley; great-grandson, Thomas William Lemuel Tankersley; daughter, Rhonda Mapes and her 3 sons ; niece, Leslie Ellis and nephew, Robert Tankersley.

A Celebration of Tony's life will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 2:00PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Parker officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00PM until 2:00PM.
