Obituary
Mrs. Martha Ruth Akins, age 70, of Hill Top Drive, Cartersville, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017 at her residence.
She was born in Thomaston, GA January 30, 1947, daughter of the late John Henry Amerson and Jewel Williams Amerson. She was a caring and loving person who will be deeply missed. Mrs. Akins is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George David Akins, Sr; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Donna (Joe) Deams of Cartersville, Brenda (Bud) Edwards of Adairsville, Tammy( Roy Lee Easterwood) Akins of Adairsville; sons, George (Charlotte) Akins, Jr. of Adairsville and David Akins of Cartersville; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Cavender of LaGrange and Margie Bennett of Butler; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Ronnie Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, Kingston. Pallbearers will be George Akins, David Akins, Thomas Akins, Joe Deams, Ronald Kinslow, and Bud Edwards.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Barton Funeral Home.
