Mrs. Martha Hefner Mulinix, age 90, of 100 Mulinix Road, Kingston passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, at her residence.
She was born in Walker County, GA, June 23, 1922, daughter of the late John Franklin Hefner and Lula Puryear Hefner. Mrs. Mulinix was a member of Kingston Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. A 1940 graduate of Berry High School and a 1944 graduate of Berry College, she was a school teacher for Bartow County Schools and Cartersville City Schools for over fifteen years. She will always be remembered as "Bartow County's Quilt Lady" for all the beautiful quilts she made and the many people she taught quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rufus Eugene Mulinix, Sr. and sisters, Velma Hefner Finch and Jo Hefner Hawley.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Marty Mulinix of Kingston and Rufus and Lisa Mulinix, Jr., of Lafayette; four grandsons, Micah Mulinix, Asa Mulinix, Jacob Mulinix, and Ben Mulinix; a step-granddaughter, Melissa Smith and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Kingston Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Garland officiating. Interment will follow in Kingston Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Gibson, Allen Metzger, Richard Hunt, Ron Cooper, Buddy Herndon and Wayne Treadaway and the Men's Class of Kingston Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
