Mr. Marvin Ladell Tate, age 71, of Adairsville, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 5, 2019.

He was born in Rome, GA, on October 24 1947 to the late Lum Henry Tate and Claudie Austin Tate. He was a member of Adairsville Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. Marvin and his wife were owner operators of Tate's Appliance and Furniture in Adairsville and he retired from the maintenance department at Wellstar Hospital. He was an avid reader of the Bible, enjoyed gardening, and watching a good western with his dog, Happy. Mr. Tate was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Lillian Castleberry, Mildred Moses, Hurstine "Tina" Stamey, Lee Tate, Mary "PeeWee" McAfee, and Michael Tate.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Oxford Tate; daughters; Lisa Tate Slaughter and her husband Scott, and Angie Tate McCurley and her husband David; grandchildren, Allison Nicole Slaughter and Mark Emory Slaughter; sisters, Nadine Cox and Margie Gunter; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Eric Sorrell officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Taylorsville. Jack Petty, Ronnie Stamey, Jr., Chris Fricks, Cameron Rickman, Mitch McAfee, John Slaughter, and Will Venerable will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
