Mrs. Mary Marie Craig Akins, age 69, of 152 Martin Luther King Drive, Adairsville passed away Saturday, November 6, 2011, at the residence.
She was born in Bartow County, April 19, 1942, daughter of the late Bascum and Annie Bell Gravley Craig. Mrs. Akins was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed Akins; a son, Gene Akins; a sister, Lillie Smith; and 5 brothers, James, George, William, Clyde, and Herman Craig.
Survivors include 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Akins of Calhoun, Charles (Alice Cross) Akins of Vienna, Doyle (Linda) Akins of Vienna, and John (Kathy) Akins of Adairsville; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda (Stan Branton) Mulkey of Adairsville and Ann (Ricky Adcock) Grooms of Adairsville; 2 sisters, Carol Smith of Kingston and Rosa Lee Prater of Alabama; a brother, Leroy Craig of Adairsville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday, November 7, 2011, at 3:00 PM at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, Kingston. Pallbearers will be Frank Akins, George Akins, Bobby Akins, Ricky Blackmon, Anthony Green, and David Hall.
The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mrs. Mary Marie Akins.
