Mrs. Mary Frances Allmon, 83, of Clements Road, Rome, GA, passed away Friday morning, (January 31, 2014) at the residence.
She was born in Adairsville, GA, May 10, 1930, daughter of the late William and Susie Parks Brookshire. She was a member of Rush Chapel United Methodist Church and was a beautician for many years. As a loving mother and grandmother she spent most of her time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John H. Allmon; granddaughter, Shannon Deon Godfrey; sisters, Bessie Louise Brookshire and Helen Fowler.
Survivors include her 3 children, Louise and Mack Godfrey of Rome, Susan and Maurice Baxter of White, and Rickey and Joann Allmon of Rome; 4 grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Godfrey, Kevin (Mandy) Dobson, Jennifer (Jo) Salmon and Paul (Lainie) Allmon; 3 step grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Smith of Acworth, Elsie Bunch and Ed Chastain of Adairsville, Betty Pitts of Conyers, Brenda Smith of Rome, Shirley and Jack Jacobs of Rome, Glenda and Bobby Bailey of Rome, and Jeanette Potts of Rome; special nephew, Thomas Willerson and several other nieces and nephews survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 3, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Larry Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Rush Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rome. George Fowler, Kevin Dobson, Jason Godfrey, Mack Godfrey, Ryan Hammondtree, and David Blackburn will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
