Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Chappell, 58, of Joe Frank Harris Parkway, Adairsville passed away Wednesday (December 4, 2013) at Kindred Hospital, Rome.

Mrs. Chappell was born in Collinsville, Alabama, September 13, 1955, daughter of Sarah Parker Reed and the late Roy Patrick Reed. She was a member of Open Door Ministries and loved singing with her gospel group, Blood Bought. Mrs. Chappell enjoyed quilting and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, sister, Kathy Reed, and a brother, Dennis Reed.

She is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Alton Eugene Chappell of Adairsville, a daughter and son-in-law, Lamonia and Chris Collins of Calhoun; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene Chappell, JR. and Stacia of Euharlee and Jeremy and Maria Chappell of Cartersville; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Joy Jarrett of Rome and Barbara Dodd of Summerville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Barry Bennett, Mr. Eugene Chappell, JR, and Rev. Bonnie Bennett. Interment will follow in the Towe Chapel cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers include Tommy Chappell, Christopher Collins, David Jarrett, Raymond Sheared, Andy Knight, and Derek Lanham, SR.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
