Obituary

Mrs. Mary Lou (Metcalf) Fletcher, 90, went home to be with the Lord at Gordon Health and Rehab Center in the presence of her loving husband and family on Sunday, July 13, 2014.

Mrs. Fletcher was born in Gordon County, Georgia, May 14, 1924, daughter of the late Oscar Lee Metcalf and Mae Andrews Metcalf. As a devoted wife and mother she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and tending to all of her family. In her lifetime of serving the Lord she had been a member and worker of several Baptist churches; Oostanaula, Oothcalooga, Canaan Land Christian Center, and the House of Prayer. She also sang and traveled with Gospel Pilgrims Quartet for numerous years. Mrs. Fletcher was a loving woman who will be dearly missed by her husband, family, and those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Eileen Rich.

She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Roy W. Fletcher of Adairsville; children, David and Glenda Fletcher of Adairsville, Roger and Paula Fletcher of Adairsville; Linda Millsap of Adairsville, Kay Fletcher of Adairsville, and Sheryl and Craig Burgess of San Antonio, TX; 4 grandchildren, Taylor Fletcher, Stephen Fletcher, Lee Fletcher, and Michelle Lynn Sherman; 3 great grandchildren, Will Fletcher, Ben Fletcher, and Tyler Fletcher; special friend, Robert Smith and 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at 1:00 PM at Oostanaula Baptist Church, Calhoun with Rev. Buddy Bagley and Rev. June Dale officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
