Mrs. Mary Lares Shortnacy, age 72, of Wilson Street, Adairsville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at her residence.

She was born in Gadsden, AL, September 13, 1942, daughter of the late Charlie Eugene Morgan and Mary Pentecost Morgan. She was a member of Oothcalooga Baptist Church and an upholsterer for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and playing board games with her family. Mrs. Shortnacy was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Margaret Hollis and Helen Shaw.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-seven years, Billy Joe Shortnacy of Adairsville; children, Terry Shortnacy and Brent Shortnacy both of Cedartown, Kent (Janet) Shortnacy of Gadsden, AL, Marlon (Beth) Shortnacy of Adairsville, Katrina (Kevin) Farrell of Plainville, Anthony (Andrea) Shortnacy of Shannon; grandchildren that were blessed to call her mother, Krystal(Christopher) Bell , Geneva (Daniel) Smith, and Zachary (Jamie) Shortnacy, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charlie Morgan and Michael (Sherrie) Morgan; special niece, Regina (Larry) Alanxander; special cousin, Bo Hunt and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM from Oothcalooga Baptist Church, Adairsville, with Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Oothcalooga Baptist Church, Adairsville.
