Mrs. Melba Jean Shinholster, 86, of Rydal, formerly of Marietta, passed away March 17, 2020 at her residence.
She was born in Gordo, Alabama, February 26, 1934, to the late Austin V. Pate and Eunice Keene Pate. She was a member of South Cobb Church of Christ in Mableton. Her life was fulfilled with raising her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking and having everyone together. A talented seamstress, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and embroidering. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Shinholster; and sister, Charlotte Hendrix.
Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Langston and Pam and Thomas Bagley; grandchildren, Lori Sudduth and fiancee, Rodney Craig, Bryan and Bethany Sudduth, Erin Evans, Andrew Shore, Jason Bagley, and Heather Bagley; great-grandchildren, Alicia Locke and fiancee, Byron Sission, Shane Sudduth, Lane and Harlie Sudduth, Thomas O. and Tristen Bagley, Skyler Shore, Taylor Evans, Talan Edwards, Kenny Zaden and Andrew Adams; great-great grandchildren, Spencer Locke, Aiden Bagley, Payton Locke, Raylan Locke, Brennan Bagley , Kyndall Shore, and Libbie Sudduth; sisters, Eleanor Walker and Gloria Filbert; brother, William and Diane Pate and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 19, 2020, at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Kyle Coker officiating. Interment will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park, Marietta. Pallbearers will be Bryan Sudduth, Andrew Shore, Lane Sudduth, Donnie Proctor, Thomas O. Bagley, and Shane Sudduth. Honorary pallbearers will be Skyler Shore, Andrew Adams, and Jason Bagley.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Barton Funeral Home.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, is in charge of the funeral arrangements for Mrs. Melba Jean Shinholster.
