Mrs. Miriam J. Smith, age 85, of 196 North Dixie Avenue, Cartersville, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Floyd Medical Center, Rome.
Mrs. Smith was born in Atlanta, GA, April 6, 1925, daughter of the late William and Rena Mae Pittman Jarrett. She was of the Methodist Faith and had attended Tillman United Methodist Church in Smyrna. She enjoyed reading and was an avid Braves fan. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Edwin Smith, 3 brothers, Ralph Jarrett, Jay Jarrett, and Vernon Jarrett, and a sister, Virginia Nunnaly.
Survivors include 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl (Phillip) Ramsden of Crosby, TX, Paula (Ray) Catoe of Fairmount, Patricia (Terry) Yow of Cartersville, and Leslie Smith of Marietta; a son, Christopher Smith of Douglasville; 9 grandchildren, Lee Catoe, Shawn Catoe, Kelly Newton, Keri Hughes, Kasey Simmons, Thomas Yow, Angus Childers, Tiffany Ramsden, and P.J. Ramsden; 11 great-grandchildren, Tori Rhodes, Emily Rhodes, Adam Hughes, Faith Catoe, Landon Catoe, Meghan Catoe, Summer Catoe, Wess Catoe, Sofiya Yow, Hannah Newton, and Allen Newton; a sister and brother-in-law, Grace (Harold) Patrick; nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be held Friday, April 8, 2011, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour.
