Obituary
Mrs. Thacker was born in Kingston, GA, November 27, 1948, daughter of the late Charles Lee and Margene Bishop Edwards. She had attended Trinity Baptist Church and was formerly an Owner/Operator truck driver with her late husband. She enjoyed sewing and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Thacker was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Glen Thacker. A daughter, Paula Kelly, a sister, Imogene Haney, and a great-grandaughter, Aubrey Turner.
Survivors include 2 sons, Rev. Donny (Carol) Whitener, of Cartersville and Morris (Elsa)Whitener of Adairsville; a daughter, Donna (John) McRobie of Dalton; 3 brothers, Ovell "Bud" Edwards, Calvin Edwards, and Randy Edwards; 3 sisters, Sylvia Whitfield, Gladys Jolly, Sharon Belt, and Theresa Freeman; 10 grandchildren, James Murphy, Kevin Whitener, Keisha Polston, Kasey Fields, Seth Woodward, Dana Turner, Tiffany Turner, Billy "Trey" Ford, III, Amanda Gomez-Perez, and Morris Isaac Whitener, 23 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Trinity Baptist Church in Cartersville, with Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Cassville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Nancy Effie Lou Thacker.
