Mrs. Opal Christine Sutton, 83, of Adairsville, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at Lexington Medical Center in Columbia, SC.
She was born in Cassville, GA, January 29, 1930, daughter of the late Charles and Malissa Abernathy Cochran. Mrs. Sutton was a long time member of Snow Springs Baptist Church. She will be remembered for the joy she took in life, with interests ranging from sewing, gardening, cooking and bird watching to being an avid fan of country music artist, Josh Turner. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wyman Sutton, a sister, Mary Jane Richards, a brother, Franklin Cochran, and a granddaughter, Melissa Sutton.
Survivors include 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Lendon and Tina Sutton of Liberty, SC, Stan and Kim Sutton of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Thomas and Julie Sutton of Columbia, SC; 5 grandchildren, Sean Sutton, Saylor Sutton, Forrest Sutton, Bob Sutton, and Corbin Sutton; 2 great-grandchildren, Mike Allen and Christian Sutton; 2 sisters, Betty Jo Gray of White and Elsie Mansfield of Cartersville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Snow Springs Baptist Church, Adairsville with Rev. Jim Martin officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with her family serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
