Mr. Paul "Big Man" Patterson, age 71, of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at his residence.

Mr. Patterson was born in Dalton, GA, March 20, 1949, son of the late Lewis Patterson, Sr and Della Long Patterson. He was a member of Sugar Valley Baptist Church and retired brick mason. He loved the outdoors, quail hunting, and tending to his pet chickens and horses. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene Patterson, Willard Patterson, and Lewis Patterson, Jr; sisters, Loreen Patterson Stevenson, Ellene Patterson Keener, Kathryn Patterson Stevenson, Roszene Patterson Mathis, and Rosalee Patterson Thigpen.

Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 50 years, Hazel Watters Patterson; sister, JoAnn Patterson Nash and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 24, 2020, at 3:00 PM Sugar Valley First Baptist Church, Sugar Valley with Pastor Mitch Phillips and Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers include Vernon Weeks, Jackson Weeks, Justin Keener, Michael Farley, John Michael Farley, and Joe Don Gravitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Stevenson, Tony Stevenson, and David Keener. The family will receive friends Thursday, at Sugar Valley First Baptist Church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.

Mask will be required along with following social distancing guidelines out of respect for Mrs. Patterson.
